directed the administration to (1) adjust the differential between those two positions, (2) add a seventh level for the superintendent and (3) provide a job description for each position. “I have reservations about tying the administrators’ salaries to the teachers,” added Mr. Oliver. “That’s like tying the president of General Motors’ salary to the raise he gives the union ... At our current (pay) level, that’s no problem, but it could be in the future. And I’m not sure that an administrator two years'out of school deserves to be paid more than a teacher with 25 years’ experience.”
Nancy Reeve contended that there needs to be a relationship between the pay scales for teachers and administrators but posed the possibility of using a lower step on the teachers’ scale as a base.
In other matters dealt with at Tuesday’s meeting, the superintendent said he will review a request from the elementary school’s PTA for a one to two hour delayed school opening plan with transportation supervisors Tom Campbell and Allie Huff and then bring a recommendation to the School Board.
