Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Pendleton Jr. of Sperryville have announced the engagement of their daughter Dawn Elaine Watson to Jeffrey Bennett Dixon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Dixon of Berryville. Miss Watson is also the daughter of J. A. Watson Sr. of King George.
Miss Watson is a junior at Bridgewater College, majoring in history, political science and French. Mr. Dixon is majoring in electrical engineering at the Virginia Military Institute, where he is a junior.
The wedding is planned for May 1988.

read provided by RLV
Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers (RLV) report a growing response to its various programs to aid persons desiring to learn to'read or to improve their reading skills.
Following free and private instruction provided by a volunteer teacher, a Rappahannock resident recently was able to take the examination for a high school General Equivalency Diploma. Two other county residents currently are preparing for the examination assisted by RLV instructors.
The literacy volunteers also have received requests to tutor students this summer who have been enrolled in thej^qjjinpnt Technical Education Center’s night program iif reading skills.
RLV teachers also are available to assist the functionally illiterate involved in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Service’s Center residential substance abuse program in Culpeper County.
Residents of Rappahannock County desiring assistance provided by the RLV instructors should call Mrs. Penny Grant at 675-3051, Mrs. Eve Ashman at 987-8134 or Mrs. Margaret Gottlieb at 547-3934 for additional information.
The regular meeting of the RLV will be this Friday at 9 a.m. at the Child Care and Learning Center.
