Forty county deputies will work in all, and the State Police will assign 17 troopers and three supervisors to help in traffic control. The Jaycees will assist in parking the cars.
The cars are, naturally, one of steeplechasing’s top attractions. Tailgating, or elaborate picnicking, is a popular sport at the races and this year awards will be given for those with the best fine tailgating has to offer.
Three categories will be considered in the tailgaiting contest —best theme, most elegant and The Publishers Award for originality and elegance in the spirit of Mid-Atlantic Country.
