Artists invited
to enter show
All local artists are invited to participate in the fourth annual Virginia Patterns Art Show, May 15-16, at the John Barton Payne Building in Old Town Warrenton. The show is ' sponsored by the Fauquier Chapter of the Virginia Museum.
This year’s show is being juried and judged by Baylor Nichols of Richmond. Mr. Nichols is the retired Associate Director of Fine Arts of the Virginia Department of Education. Currently he is a full time painter with several shows at the Virginia Museum in Richmond to his credit.
Some aspect of the submitted work must deal with Virginia and the use of patterns is to be considered in the work. Categories of work to be accepted are: Paintings — watercolors, oils, acrylics, collage, and batik; Prints, Photos, and Drawings —pastels, photographs, etchings, lithographs, and serigraphs; and Three-Dimensional work — sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics, and papermaking.
There is a $4 entry charge per piece with a maximum of four pieces. All work must be framed for hanging or properly prepared for display. There is a maximum size limit of 48 inch by 48 inch including frame. Sales are encouraged and a modest 10 percent commission is taken by the museum chapter for the sales.
