Sissinghurst, the making of a garden, will be the next topic to be explored by the Second Friday Program Series at the Rappahannock County Public Library on May 8 at 8 p.m.
Sally Sharp, former president of the Rappahannock County Garden Club, lecturer and photographer and creator of this narrated slide show, will present her slides on the large screen at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington in a program offered as spring-time fare in cooperation with RAAC, Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community.
She will discuss how Vita Sackville-West and her husband created a unique garden at Sissinghurst Castle in Kent, England. This is one which is being featured in the National Geographic Guide to the British Isles, “Discovering Britain and Ireland.”
In addition, Mrs. Sharp will present some of her outstanding slides of wildflowers in Virginia, a subject close to every nature lover’s heart in this area and especially now as spring is bursting forth. She will focus on use by man (culinary and me
