also be responsible for such lives taken due to that seat belt used by law when the driver, given freedom of choice, would not have used it. This has not, to my knowledge, been tried in the courts but perhaps it should be.
On the TV news a few months ago we all heard... “drunken driver veers into crowd - kills three - he was not wearing a seat belt.” As if the seat belt were the culprit instead of the drunken driver. (The driver survived.)
Now, let’s get back to that local accident. . . can you imagine a policeman congratulating that girl on her survival of a crash that would have been certain death, then issuing her a citation for not using that belt?
Every year there are several new laws shoved at all of us which we had no opportunity to vote for or against, forbidding us to do that which we have been free to do for generations. We are all less free this year than last and will, no doubt, be less free next year than this. At least, we can still complain ... so far.
Come on “big brother,” we are over-legislated to death!
