Outside of proposed school spending, the biggest jump in expenditures in the draft budget comes in public works, with
a line item of $300,000 for landfill site improvements (up $210,000 from the current year) and $100,000 for contracted collection service (up $36,000).
In a work sheet attached to the draft budget, Mr. Cox breaks down the increase in the tax levy:
• Reassessment costs: $25,000 and one cent on the rate.
• Local cost of the Sheriffs Department and jail: $25,786 and one centon the rate.
• Refuse collection: $36,600 and one cent on the rate.
