the unemployed, the physically and mentally disabled as well as children. Through the hands of 600 member agencies, including day care centers, churches, food pantries, the Salvation Army, adult homes, emergency shelters for the homeless and other service organizations more than 12 million pounds of food have been distributed by the Food Bank Network since its inception five short years ago.
Phil Grasty, executive director of the Food Bank Network, said, “We have been humbled by the support and encouragement of area citizens. We feel sure that again neighbors will reach out a hand to each other during the Hands Against Hunger campaign.”
Hands Against Hunger mailing will take place the week of May 1723. All Food Bank Branches (Winchester, Verona, Charlottesville, Lynchburg) will be holding an open house Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
