State Senator Kevin G. Miller Sr. announced last week that he intends to seek re-election to the Virginia State Senate, representing the 26th Senatorial District.
“It has been a distinct pleasure to represent the citizens of this area in the Virginia General Assembly since my first election in 1979,” Sen. Miller said in making the announcement. “It has been particularly gratifying to serve the last four years in the Senate, where I was fortunate enougt to be the first freshman to be assigned to four m^jor standing Senate committees.”
Sen. Miller is a member of the committees on Local Government, Privileges and Elections, Rehabilitation and Social Services, and Transportation.
“In addition to the standing committees, I have served on many special study committees and commissions.” Those assignments have included subjects as diverse as Annexation, Mandated Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention Programs, and the group formed to study the adoption of a new state song or rewriting the lyrics of the present song, which has been called rascist and is seldom played or sung at official functions.
