The Wakefield girls’ tennis team is off to a blazing start this season, scoring victories over Randolph-Macon Academy and Warren County High School in Front Royal, Jefferson County High School in West Virginia, and Highland School in Warrenton.
The team is being coached by Uli Maeyer, who switched to the girls’ team “with much pleasure” after leading the boys’ team through a successful season last year. He said he decided to coach the girls’ team this spring because he felt the girls have much more talent as well as more fun on the court.
The Owls’ first match against Randolph-Macon on March 24 proved to be an easy victory, with Wakefield winning by a score of 8-1. By winning all the singles matches
