Other events scheduled for the occasion include a walking tour of antebellum homes on East Street, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the old depot and Burgandine House. The public is invited to a garden party during the tour at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Martin on East Street hosted by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Festivities will conclude with a banquet at Culpeper Country Club beginning at 7 p.m. with Dr. Robertson and descendants of Gen. Hill as special guests. Seating is limited to 120 by advance ticket sale only. Tickets may be purchased by sending $20 per person before May 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Ryan, CPM, 302 S. East St., Culpeper.
Dr. Robertson’s speech at the courthouse will be preceded by a concert of historical and martial music by a Culpeper County High School band ensemble, followed by a box lunch on the courthouse green, served by local Boy Scouts. Box lunch tickets at $3.50 are available at any Culpeper bank and must be purchased prior to May 14.
