Dr. James (Bud) Robertson, professor of history at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, will be featured speaker during a ceremony to commemorate A. P. Hill Day May 16 in Culpeper.
His address will be delivered at 11:45 a.m. on the Culpeper Courthouse steps. He will be introduced by Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. of Culpeper.
Before his talk there will be a wreath-laying at the Confederate monument there by Gen. Hill’s descendants and members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
A nationally recognized Civil War authority and author of several prominent histories of this conflict, Dr. Robertson will be in town for the occasion of the release of his latest * tbookv- published by Random House, entitled General A. P. Hill: A Confederate Warrior. Preceding his talk, he will sign the book from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Comer Shelf in the A. P. Hill building at the comer of Main and Davis Streets, where copies of the new book will be available.
The event May 16 will climax a week-long observance of National Preservation Week, and the Town of Culpeper has chosen that day to
