That agency has already found the camp accommodations to be suitable under federal and state regulations, he said.

Reviewing the conditions recommended by the planning commission, the board specified that maximum capacity would be 16 dining the harvest season, beginning Aug. 1 and continuing to no later than Dec. 1, with the camp to close for two months following the harvest. At Supervisor Estes’ suggestion, the board upped the maximum to 11 for the remainder of the off-season, with the intention of requiring the Health Department’s oversight role and biweekly inspections to continue through that period. Laborers housed in the camp must be adults and must be employed on land owned or rented by the Sharps.
