Va. Museum Artmobile to visit
The Virginia Museum's traveling show, “Reflections,” will visit Rappahannock County for five days beginning Thursday, March 31. The artmobile will be parked in Washington at a location to be announced and will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Showings at the Gallery
This weekend Middle Street Gallery will feature selected works by Gallery artists and small items with big imagination in the Art Shop.
The second annual Gallery Artists and Friends Show will open Saturday, April 2, from 4 to 7 and will run through May 1. Among the work included will be more underground photographs by Edik Gladkov of Moscow, painting on glass by Nabil Abed of war-tom Lebanon and an oil by Alexei Afonin of his mother at his older brother’s deathbed. Afonin is a child film star from Moscow who emigrated to New York City with his family as a teenager.
Middle Street Gallery is a non-profit artists’ cooperative which is open Friday to Sunday, 11 to 6, and by appointment. Call 675-3440 for information.
Lecture series continues
On Tuesday, March 29, the film Ten North Frederick, based on John O’Hara’s popular novel of the ’50s, will be shown at 7:30 at the Gay St. Theater free of charge. This is the second of four lecture-film series sponsored by the Friends of the Rappahannock Library and the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy.
