Kate and Jim Ryan hosted a family reunion the weekend of March 12 to celebrate the 80th birthday of Kate’s mother Mrs. Mary Conlin. The surprise celebration was attended by 25 family members who traveled from New York, South Carolina, Connecticut and Virginia.
L. J. Davis’ mother Mrs. Sally Lou Davis celebrated her 95th birthday Sunday. Joining L. J. and Margaret Davis were family members Gloria and Charlie Mills and Jerry and Bonnie Curtis of Rixeyville. Other family members and friends from the United Methodist and Amissville Baptist Churches attended the birthday dinner at the Amissville Baptist Church.
In VFD news, Chief Paul Poling and President Carroll Settle express the appreciation of the Department to everyone who donated items for the successful auction Saturday night. The department netted almost $3,000 from the auction and approximately $200 from the sale of food.
The Fire Department will serve a spaghetti dinner April 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.
