LemMon says that if a look is wonderful and it has lasted 200 years, it won’t go out of fashion. She does see the country look evolving in the direction of cleaner lines, less clutter and more open spaces.
Country Home shows a spare look, understated, with primitive pieces and antiques. The country look can be very sophisticated, LemMon thinks, and is definitely not “cutesy.” It mixes well with other types of decorating, and part of the appeal is its versatility.
Create an eclectic look if you like, she advises. But “get rid of the ducks and geese. Instead of bread dough geese, use a traditional craft technique with natural materials.”
