‘The Princess Bride’
The movie The Princess Bride will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, and Sunday, March 27. When Gramps (Peter Falk) pulls out a bedtime book called The Princess Bride, his grandson groans. But this once-upon-a-time tale gets the kid (and us) interested, thanks ironically to the movies and screenwriter William Goldman’s witty adaptation of his own book. Blonde heroine Buttercup meets and immediately loses blond hero Westley to the seas. Reluctantly, she agrees to marry the scheming Prince Humperdinck but keeps on hoping for Westley. Goldman and director Rob Reiner make this narrative framework an excuse to introduce a collection of funny characters. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
