But normal people who take huge quantities of one or more nutrients are at risk for side effects. People believe that if a little is good then more is better. This is not so when it comes to supplementation. Safe intake levels vary widely from nutrient to nutrient and with the age and health of the individual. What may be a megadose for one person may have no effect on another.

The recommendation of the experts is that you probably do not need to take any vitamin or mineral supplements. There are, however, several groups for which supplementation is indicated.
