ON BATHROOMS
If you think the number and style of bathrooms have little to do with the value of a home, think again. Early in this century an agent might have said, “It's hard to sell a house WITHOUT a bathroom.” Today, he or she will say, “It’s hard to sell a house with only ONE bathroom.” Just ask the family that has had to endure a one-bathroom house with growing children. Two and a half bathrooms seems to be everyone’s dream figure.
Bathrooms with outside windows are far more appealing to buyers than interior baths with vent fans, but better an interior extra bathroom than none at all.
Walk-in shower stalls are preferred to shower-over-tub arrangements, but most people want at least one bathtub in the house. Ceramic tile is preferred to Formica, fiberglass, or vinyl paneling. Bathroom vanities are becoming a must. Double sinks are a plus as are full-wall mirrors behind the sink/vanity. Wallpaper is preferred to paint. That’s your primer on bathrooms.
