Snow makeup Jan. 30

The Rappahannock County public schools will make up a snow day on Monday, Jan. 30. The day will make up the f time lost from school on Jan. 6, when ~ schoofwas cancelled. Jan. 30 will be a regular school day Instead of a teacher work day as indicated on the school calendar. In addition, the semester will be extended by one day, and will now end on Thursday, Jan. 26 instead of Wednesday, Jan. 25.

RALLY wins litter award

The Rappahannock Anti-Litter League and You (RALLY) was one of 70 local /public and private litter control programs honored by the Virginia Department of \ Waste Management's Divison of Litter Control and Recycling. The awards were presented by Virginia's First Lady, Jeannie Baliles, during a luncheon Jan. 18 at the Richmond Marriott. RALLY, representing •^Rappahannock County's litter control and recycling effort, was among a number of county programs honored with an Award of * Recognition. v

If & M income up 6.2 percent

The F & M National Corporation, a bank holding company whose assets p include the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Flint Hill announced that its net income for 1988 was $8.98 million, or $1.22 per t share. The figure represented a seven cent per share increase on earnings over 1987's figure of $ 1.15 per share. The book value of the corporation's stock at the end of 1988 € was listed at $7.43 per share.
