Lynn. “So many people tell me that they have moved into this area because of the quality education Wakefield offers.
“It is very important that Wakefield continue to exist, to draw new professional and business people to the region as well as home-grow more of our own. We will only do that if we have the financial support of people in the community who want to see maintained the educational program Bill Lynn began here in 1972.
“That’s why I established the William E. Lynn Jr. Scholarship Fund in September 1988 as a memorial to Bill, the school’s founder and first headmaster. Since the majority of Wakefield’s students are from middle-class families, some struggling to pay even our comparatively low tuition fees, we have to award many tuition reductions annually; almost $88,000 in such tuition reductions was given last year. The proceeds from the scholarship appeal will help fund this considerable financial aid program.”
