Baked ham slices

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt in a large mix ing bowl; stir well. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in sweet potatoes. Add buttermilk, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead 4 to 5 times. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness;:cut with a 1-1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot with baked ham. Yield: about 2-1/2 dozen.
