PTA attendance night Feb. 7

The RCES PTA will be observing “High Attendance Night” at its regualr meeting at the elementary school on Tuesday, Feb. 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The classroom with the best parent representation at the meeting will receive special Valentine treats. Also scheduled is a talk by Monica Nixon on teaching children responsibility. Ms. Nixon teaches parent-child communication classes and is a former Montessori teacher. The public is welcome.

Advisory councils will meet

The Rappahannock County Schools are holding a Chapter I Parents Advisory Council meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the RCES Library. The meeting is open to the public.

Several of Mrs. Mary Hobson’s Chapter I math students will be featured in the program. Advice will also be sought from parents on the design of the Chapter I program for 1989-90.

Collage workshop

The Fauquier Chapter of the Virginia Museum is offering a lecture and workshop titled “Collage: Integrating Realities," taught by Rappahannock Artist Laurie Marshall. The lecture will take place Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., following a potluck supper at 6 p.m. in the Art Cave of Central Elementary School in Warrenton. The workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 in the same location. Museum-quality materials and experimental techniques will be used. The workshop costs $10. Call Laura Kelsey at 347-3608 to register. (Marshall is one of 10 artists selected by the Virginia Museum to conduct workshops throughout the state in its Affiliate Artist Program.)
