“We should provide for as much as we can now,” maintained Commissioner Clark, finding support from Supervisor Massie for the possibility of enlarging the addition to include space for the magistrate’s office and the breathalizer room where the State Police's equipment for measuring alcohol consumption must be stored safe from tampering. (Currently, both the magistrate’s office and the breathalizer room are in the courthouse.)
Mr. McCarthy also noted that the Social Services Department has plans for enlarging its staff by twro positions and will need additional office space when that happens.
Extension Service wants space for third agent and new meeting room
Extension agents Tommy Williams and Sandra Richardson told the planning commissioners that they will be asking the county to consider adding a third agent to run 4-H programs. Rappahannock’s 4-H clubs have increased from two to eight in the last three years and twTo more clubs are now being organized, Mrs. Richardson said. The clubs alone present “a real challenge for us to supervise,” she said, adding that most counties have separate agents for agriculture, extension homemakers and 4-H.
