Drug-dealing criminals can no longer be allowed to misuse our court system and our laws to hide from their responsibilities for turning children into junkies, or using our prison system as a new market for their illegal enterprise. The death penalty is used to punish our most heinous, violent murderers, and in my opinion, dangerous illegal drugs cause just as much death and destruction as does any bullet or knife.
• another of my bills will make it a Class 5 felony for any person or child-placing agency convicted of deliberately setting out to buy or sell a baby. If making a profit by selling an innocent baby, or if the child placement agencies buy infants from birth mothers as part of the cost of doing business, somebody should go to jail. Babies are not for sale, period.
This bill of course distinguishes the buying and selling of babies as a business enterprise from the reasonable and customary expenses incurred by an agency or attorney for placement fees for services, payment of medical fees for birth mothers who plan to put the infants up for legal adoption, or other such legitimate fees that go along with a couple’s desire to adopt a child, or a moth
