Tax info for Federal retirees

Federal retirees whose prior tax returns may be affected by the recent Supreme Court decision on a Michigan law regarding the taxation of federal retirement benefits may get additional information from the Commissioner of the Revenue's office at the courthouse. The decision has an effect on a number of states, including Virginia, which levy taxes on federal benefits but leave such state benefits taxexempt. Commissioner Beverly Atkins said her office has received a letter from ^/irginia's tax commissioner, W. H. The Rappahannock County Lions Club is still looking for donations for its annual benefit auction, scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at the Washington fire hall.
