Mr. Gilkey wondered about the purpose of such a project. “When you have land use, whether you live here or don’t live here, if you qualify, you get it,” he said.
“I’m not advocating doing away with land use,” Col. Bingham said. “I want to see it plotted out on maps in different colors. Investors is where the problem is. Land is a rich man’s toy.”
“All real estate is an investment,” Mr. Massie replied.
“Do you see Agricultural and Forestal Districts as more desirable than yearly land use?” Mr. Estes asked.
Col. Bingham said he wasn’t sure. Mr. McCarthy suggested that if the supervisors wanted such maps drawn money for that purpose could come out of the $7,000 he had in the budget for doing an area study of the general commercial district.
“The tax rate could be more equitable,” Col. Bingham said.
“Let’s move on to the budget,” Mr. Gilkey suggested.
