Nearly 1,700 students will receive their degrees during the program which begins at 11 a.m. in JMU Stadium. Approximately 1,580 will receive bachelor’s degrees and < 90 will receive master’s degrees.
Mr. Gartner became president of NBC News in August 1988. During his career, he has been a writer and editor for the Wall Street Journal, editor of The Des Moines Register and Tribune, editor of The Louisville Courier-Journal and Louisville Times and general news executive of the Gannett Company in Washington.
He is a graduate of Carleton College in Minnesota and the New' York University School of Law. He is a member of the bars of New York and Iow’a and one of the 16 members of the Pulitzer Prize Board.
