About 55-60 participants in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program were honored with a luncheon recognizing their efforts during the past year.

According to volunteer coordinator Jeanie McNear, the volunteers provide essential services for county residents which would be expensive or impossible to provide otherwise. “They do a terrific job, and very seldom are recognized for their efforts.”

Mrs. McNear said the luncheon was organized to give the volunteers some recognition for the services they provide, which are accomplished quietly, without a lot of fanfare.

The organizations represented at the luncheon, where various services are provided by the senior volunteers, included volunteers and directors from Family Guidance Services of Rappahannock, the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Site,
