Washington's birthday bash
The Town of Washington will celebrate its 240th "birthday on Saturday, Aug. 19 with an evening of food, music and other activities. It will be held on Gay St. at the Courthouse, with volleyball, children’s games and other events beginning at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. the bluegrass band New Liberty will perform, followed at 8 p.m. bv the Cross Country band. There will also be hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, roasted com on the cob, beer, wine and soft drinks. All will benefit the Washington Volunteer Fire Department.
Republican rally
A Republican rally will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, from 3-5 p.m. at Washington fire hall. Area residents are invited to come and meet Marshall Coleman, candidate for governor; State Senator Joe Venedetti; candidate for Attorney General, Delegate Andy Guest, candidate for reelection from the 31st District and State Senator Kevin Miller. “Come one, come all,” said a republican organizer.
