inree years ago the Massachusetts treasury held a comfortable surplus and a AAA bond rating. Today, the state is $619 million in debt and its bond rating has fallen to a level just above that of Louisana, the lowest of the 50 states.

Given this evidence of the leadership abilities of governor Dukakis, I shudder to think where this country would be headed today if he had been elected president last November.
