Pitcher Donald Dorrell shut down the Blazers offense for the Yankees, allowing just one hit in the final two innings while striking out five batters. The victory gave the Yankees their sixth straight regular season victory, along with second place in the year-end Bambino League standings.
The red-hot Rappahannock Red Sox ended the season in a blaze of glory at Rappahannock field last Saturday, scoring 50 runs in a double-header against the Amissville Bulldogs. The Sox split their scoring evenly against the visitors, taking the opener 25-3 and shelling the Bulldogs again in the nightcap, shutting them out 25-0.
The two victories gave the Red Sox the regular season championship in the Bambino League. The Bulldogs finished the year with a 1-7 record.
