With the seemingly endless rains of July causing delay after delay, the county's Bambino Little League season finally ended on July 25, two weeks later than planned.
That day, the Rappahannock Yankees finished the season with a heart-stopping 15-14 win over the Amissville Blazers.
The Blazers led all the way, scoring four runs in the first, two in the second, another four in the third and four more in the fourth to build a seemingly unstoppable 14-1 lead going into the fifth inning. But the never-say-die Yankees clawed their way back into the game with a 10run fifth inning, putting the game within three runs, 14-11.
They pulled out the win in the sixth and deciding inning with another four runs, winning the game 15-14.
