Dora Carter
Mrs. Dora Carter, 83, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Thursday, July 20 in the Shadvside Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Carter was born July 22, 1906, in Rappahannock County, a daughter of the late Lovella Payton and Will Noakes.
As a young woman, Mrs. Carter moved to Pittsburgh with her husband, Ernest Carter. She joined Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church in the early 40’s and remained a faithful member until death. Mrs. Carter served with the Nurses’ Unit for many years. In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Dora Powe; a son, Alfred Pulliam, both of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Joan Duncan and Leslie Powe of Virginia, Denise Robinson of Plum Boro, William Stroman, Charles Powe and Bruce Powe, all of Pittsburgh and one god-daughter, Sherry H. Thomas.
Funeral services were conducted in Pennsylvania.
