To the editor:
Well, gosh, let me try again to answer last week’s querying letter. Yes, marijuana is considered an illegal substance.
The important question to ask is, “why is marijuana an illegal substance?” Other equally dangerous drugs are condoned by our government as they share in the profits of their sale. I speak of the tax on alcohol and tobacco.
Also, when did the citizenry of the United States decide that it was necessary to have Congress dictate what we should or should not consume? I feel that I can make that choice adequately and that it is somewhat a matter of personal freedom for me to make that choice.
History has proven that people will make those choices regardless of laws, and that chaos and crime usually rampage through a society in the face of such law's! Does anyone remember prohibition? Maybe “moonshine” still rings a bell?
Now that eggs and bacon have been found to be unhealthy, should we have our law enforcement officers begin raiding refrigerators for those demon eggs? Maybe they should set fire to those flocks of egglaying chickens. No, I am sure we all agree that we can decide how to con
