The Bluemont Concert series will present the best downhome Texas Blues band in the country, Anson Funderburgh, in concert on Saturday, Aug. 5 on the lawn of the Warren Green in downtown Warrenton. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Requested donation is $2 per person. All are welcome.
The full name of the band is Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets, featuring Sam Myers. Anson and the Rockets are from Texas; Sam Myers is from Memphis. They joined forces' four years ago and have since become internationally acclaimed as “the best blues band anywhere.”
The band is led by Sam Myers on harmonica and old time stand up vocals and Anson Funderburgh, one of the great lead guitarists in the country. The other members of this exceptional band include Mike Judge on upright bass, Matt McCabe on keyboards, and Marc Wilson on drums.
Winner of the prestigious 1988 Handy Blues Music Awards for best blues band, best blues single, and best blues instrumentalist of the year, Anson Funderburgh is the Lincoln Continental of Texas blues bands, a musical experience not to be missed, according to a Bluemont spokesman.
