The Board of Supervisors authorized County Administrator John McCarthy to negotiate with Blue Ridge Appraisal Company to conduct a reassessment of real estate in Rappahannock County.
The reassessment process will be spread out over two budget years, and tax bills based on the new assessments will be first mailed in the fall of 1992 for the 199293 budget year.
Blue Ridge conducted the most recent assessment in the county in 1987 and already has a computer program listing all the parcels of land in the county at that time, but theirs was not the low bid.
R. L. Hansbrough, Inc. submitted a bid of $40,000. Blue Ridge’s bid was $43,000.
However, the request for proposals, a legal advertisement the county ran to solicit bids, allowed the supervisors to consider experience in other jurisdictions and professional qualifications as well as bid price in accepting or rejecting bids.
