The members of the Sperryville United Methodist church hosted a covered dish birthday party for Mrs. Joy Shorb on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Johnson. Others enjoying the occasion were Rev. Merlin Shorb, Mr. Hugh Chrisman and daughter Allyson, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Keyser, Mrs. Ruby Dwyer, Mrs. Emma Swindler, Mrs. Margaret Devers, Mrs. Polly Aylor, Mr. Clyde “Mutt” Atkins, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Klatko and Sara, Kerri Beth Von Fange, Mrs. Geraldine Payne, Dean and Matthew, Mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland, Mrs. Catherine Brown, Mrs. Brenda Anderson and Sonya and June Jenkins.
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have a fall carnival Oct. 4-7. Rides will be. provided by West Virginia Amusement Company. The department plans to host a Saturday and Sunday matinee. A band has been scheduled for Thursday night and other activities will be announced at a later date.
Saturday overnight guests of Mrs. T.M. Johnston were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Reams, Brad and Morgan of Longview Acres in Winchester.
