And, for those looking for a particular book not stocked by the store, special orders are just part of the service for Cabin Fever Books. “It’s not just good customer relations — it’s part of our orientation,” Mrs. Parrish explained. “In a shop this size we can’t carry everything people want, but we can get the books quickly,” often in a couple of days.
And, she added, “we get a lot of good ideas from special orders. Customers make suggestions, and we end up stocking the title.”
For those residents used to trips to surrounding counties to buy lastminute cards or wrapping paper, the store is a one-stop shopper’s dream come true. Cabin Fever carries cards and wrapping paper for all occasions, as well as decorative bags perfect for a gift bottle of wine or other present.
The newest service offered by the store is a discount club for regular customers, which earns a discount after a number of purchases.
Cabin Fever Books is located on Main Street in Washington, Va. The shop is open 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and “from after church until 6 p.m. on Sunday,” according to Mrs. Carney. The telephone number is (703)675-1800.
