Robert Anderson made a motion to rank Blue Ridge number one and Hansbrough number two and authorize Mr. McCarthy to negotiate with the first firm. The motion was approved unanimously.
The current budget includes $25,000 for the reassessment. The rest of the needed funds will be included in the next budget.
During the executive session the supervisors also discussed the problem of loitering in the Town of Washington, but they took no action on that when they resumed their open session.
Earlier they had agreed to have Hampton District representative Mike Massie and Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes along with Mr. McCarthy meet with town council members to discuss the issue if the town requests a meeting with the county.
Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham asked if the problem has lessened since school started.
“The ones on that comer aren’t school kids anyway,” Sheriff John Henry Woodward said.
