Culpeper died Sept. 7 at her residence.
Mrs. Smoot was bom June 3, 1897 in Rappahannock County. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smoot is the widow of the late Lemuel J. Smoot. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Leila M. Brooks and seven sons, Isiah Smoot, Robert J. Smoot, William F. Smoot, Charles H. Smoot, Keith E. Smoot, David O. Smoot and Asa B. Smoot.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nellie E. Jenkins and Mrs. Bes Butler Hilton, both of Culpeper; one brother, Willie Burke of Ellicott City, Md.; fifty-two grandchildren, ninety-two great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church on Sept. 11 with the Rev. Kenneth Huneycutt officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Edward Smoot, Curtis Lee Smoot, William F. Smoot, Ray Smoot, Larry Smoot and Dale Brooks.
