As you ride through Rappahannock County, you can see the signs being posted at the orchards and fruit stands announcing local apples for sale. Even though the apple crop is not as large this year as it usually is, there are apples to buy locally.
Six popular apple varieties make up 90 percent of all apple trees grown in Virginia. These include: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome, Stayman, Winesap and York.
