prehospital care tor everyone in Planning District 9, which includes the counties of Rappahannock, Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Orange. The EMS Council also participates in community events, disaster drills with mass casualties, search and rescue drills, water safety demonstrations and others. It schedules classes and maintains training resources for instructors.
The EMS Council owns and operates a radio communication site to provide vital communications between rescue squad members in the field and the doctors in the Emergency Room at the hospital. Every minute counts.
Limited space funds for EMS equipment are helpful but do not meet the operational needs of local rescue squads. Maintaining EMS equipment, buying fuel and medical supplies are daily costs. Financial support for rescue squads and the EMS Council depends primarily on PD9 county and town governments as well as corporate and individual donations.
Rescue squad members in PD9 are highly trained volunteers who give their time and skills to saving lives. In some way, everyone can help save a life.
