To the editor:

It is difficult to take the federal budget matter seriously when the President of the United States is spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a new Boeing 747 jet. It has been reported that there will actually be two of these monsters, (as in jumbo jet that carries over 400 passengers), in case one of the jets is dirty.

Although when one considers a trillion dollar deficit I am sure that an entire fleet of 747 jets would be a drop in the bucket, but obviously, enough drops fill a bucket, and sink a ship, etc. If the President can not restrain his spending to necessities, who in the world can we hope to look toward for budget reform.
