James A. Starks Sr.
James Arthur Starks Sr., 69, of Front Royal died Sept. 5 at his home.
The funeral was held Sept. 8 at Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal with the Rev. George 0. Dean officiating. Burial was in the Starks family cemetery in Sperryville.
Mr. Starks was bom May 27, 1921, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Clarence Arthur and Pheba Ann Burrell Starks. He was a farmer and retired from Riverton Lime Corp.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae Glenn Starks; eight sons, Ray Starks, Kenneth Starks, Eric Starks, Derek Starks, Wayne Starks, Timothy Starks, James A. Starks Jr., all at home and Anthony Starks of Richmond; four daughters, Lavon Starks, Casena Starks, Lahoma Starks and Rosa Cadet, all at home; two brothers, Robert Starks and Haywood Starks, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Mildred Siders of Brooklyn; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Baltimore, Manuel Stribling, Elmer Fletcher, John Mathews, Thomas Ashby and MacArthur Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be sons.
Dorothy Settle
Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Settle of Amissville were Aug. 24 at the Amissville Baptist Church. Interment was in the Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
Mrs. Settle, 65, died Aug. 21 in Fauquier Hospital.
Bom Jan. 8,1925 in Cumberland, Md., she was a secretary for the U.S. Government for most of her life. Most recently she worked at Vint Hill Farms Station.
