When Charlotte and Daniel Hickerson first began to consider at*>pting two years ago, they could not have imagined how their journey would end. But it did last week, as Charlotte returned from Costa Rica with 14-year-old Maria Hickerson, their new daughter.
Through their church, the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Amissville couple contacted Internat ional Children’s Care in Vancouver, Wash., a church agency that operates orphanages in Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Costa Rica (another is being planned for Romania).
