Lee Rooker, 23, of Washington, Va. was charged with petty larceny and larceny from a vehicle for separate offenses, according to Sheriff John H. Woodward.
Rooker was arrested Monday and charged with stealing two $50 German marks from a woman’s car in Washington, Va. last week and for allegedly stealing a $150 ring from another woman. The German money and the ring were recovered, said the sheriff. He was charged with one count of larceny from a vehicle and one count of petty larceny.
In other police news this week:
• A black leather purse was taken from inside a vehicle parked on Main Street in Washington, Va. on Dec. 6, according to Rappahannock Sheriff John H. Woodward.
Taken was $67, some credit cards and other items. The purse belonged to a Front Royal woman, said Sheriff Woodward.
• Capt. Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock Sheriffs Office has made an arrest in the burglary of a Castleton home two weeks ago, said the sheriff.
Larry A. Ingram, 37, of Culpeper, has been charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny and has been bonded out. He allegedly took a satellite tracker, a color TV and a pair of binoculars from a home in Castleton.
Capt. Streapy made the arrest after checking with pawn shops to see if anyone had tried to sell the items, said the sheriff. The binoculars and the satellite tracker were recovered, the TV was not.
