A housewife and lover of growing things, she loves to cook.
“I take down the information as it comes in,” she said, adding each Tuesday morning her information is called into the office, where it is typeset for newspaper production.
And, typesetting all this material and more is correspondent for the Sperryville area Cathy Pullen.
A typesetter and office receptionist with the Rappahannock News, Mrs. Pullen is a Rappahannock native and has worked in the newspaper office for six years.
Discovering that the position was vacant through General Manager Barbara Burke, Mrs. Pullen took the position in late 1989.
“I really enjoy it,” she said, adding each Monday night, she, too, calls her clientele for information to add to the column. • “I know most of the people,” she said, and it “gives me a chance to correspond” with people.
After two years of weekly columns, her name is familiar in the community though Mrs. Pullen said she still “has not met all the people” she corresponds with weekly.
“Many, of the people I call, it’s just for social notes, but some anticipate my call, saying they could set their watch” by the ring, she said.
