As to uses such as parties, weddings and concerts, Ms. Bruce stated: “Those of us who live there already have parking problems. I would still hope the use of this building is limited to public purposes.”
Council member Newbill Miller said he had “a big problem with exempting ourselves. . . .from the ordinances of the town.”
Mayor Dean Morehouse said the question of the building’s use was “back on the table,” and then town resident Charlie Eldred proposed a fourth alternative: amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow Town Halls has a use in residential areas. Mr. Miller expressed his support for that proposal as it will allow a public hearing on the matter.
