In other business last week, the Town Council:

• Heard from town resident Fran Eldred about the goings-on of the town Architectural Review Board.

“If we’re going to have an ARB, which personally I am not particularly in favor of, then we should have a strong ARB,” said Mrs. Eldred. She accused the present board of “some selective enforcement due to some holes in the ordinances” and said the ARB was contributing to the “Disneyfication of Washington, Va.”

“Either abolish the ARB or firm up the ARB,” she told the board.

Ms. Eldred and other town residents have expressed concern about several recent board decisions. Most recently a renovation project by The Inn’s owners Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch for a Gay Street building led to the charge that it had become in actuality a demolition. Mr. O’Connell sits on the town ARB but recused himself from consider
